While browsing on ShopGoodwill.com, I found the perfect set of china. It had a 22k border and a robin’s egg blue center with pink roses. I splurged on myself and bought the entire set. However, three dishes didn’t make the trip to my house in one piece, so I had a few pieces that needed to be transformed.
Rather than waste the broken pieces, I decided to make them into something useful. After breaking down the pieces even more, I was able to make this beautiful mosaic tray. Now, I have a coordinating serving tray to use with my china set to celebrate special occasions.

DIY Broken China Tea Tray Instructions:
Paint entire wooden tray with white paint and let dry completely.
Break the pieces of broken china with a hammer until they are smaller. Place the mosaic pieces inside the tray and lay them together so that all of the gaps are filled.
Glue down each mosaic piece with E6000 adhesive. The adhesive will need to dry for at least 24 hours before beginning the next step to ensure that the glue is completely dry.
Mix white grout according to the instructions, then spread over the mosaic pieces. Allow to dry for about 10 minutes, then wipe off the top of the tiles with a wet paper towel.
Because I used some pieces of china that had curves to them, the surface of the china tray was a bit bumpy. To even this out, I mixed up ICE Resin according to the instructions on the package, and filled in the top of the tray with it. This leveled out the tray nicely.
